Is age relevant?

Is age a factor in liposuction? What age is too young or too old to have the procedure done? Is this a viable solution for parents to consider with children that are obese?

I guess those who are 18 and below are considered too young to undergo this procedure. Their bodies are yet fully developed and can still change until they will reach the age of 18.

Skin's elasticity changes as we age, along with our capacity to heal rapidly. After 35, skin takes longer to shrink, if it does so at all.

I have heard of people as old as 45 having lipsuction but I haven't seen any results.

I think most of it depends on your health and risk factors with that.

I have seen pictures of older people undergoing these procedures and they looked fine to me, but your doctor would be the best one to tell you about your risks and your chances of loose skin afterwards.

I'm turning 45 on my next birthday and you just called me old!
45 is just the beginning! I look forward to these upcoming years and if I had the money, I'd be putting a little of it into my own body for 'general maintenance and upkeep'.

Well, if it is something to think about, I was watching the other day some report about plastic surgery and they say that people over 45 are already at an age where there are many risks with plastic surgery, and they require more tests before undergoing an operation...

This is most likely true, as we age it takes longer for our bodies to heal, so surgery would indeed probably be risky business.

Sage, I'm wondering, with the liposuction, do you think removal of abdominal skin would help the appearance of liposuction, or do you think the age factor would prohibit a nice, young, flat stomach?
