Thank-you I will try some of these tips. It seems to me that I have heard about the Vitamin E scar again.

Wow good tips to follow at home. I am applying sandalwood powder daily night and it is providing cooling effect and all the scars are lightening up. I suddenly started getting acne but your tips would be helpful. Thank you.

I´ll try the olive oil. But with the lemon I´d say be careful and don´t go under the sun, since that would give you stains and nasty spots.

Great tips. I never knew that there were some great ways to treat acne scars at home, but it is great that there are options.

Treating scars to create smoother surface has to be handled carefully. Adding oil will also add a layer that can prevent the skin from breathing. It can also make existing, active acne worse. Adding oils only camouflages existing scars, leaving the need to use a light diffusing foundation to create the smoother look you are after. Olive oil is a good substance, but is best on mature skin with old acne scars, meaning new outbreaks aren't occurring on a regular basis.
Removing some of the layers of skin around the scar and at the site of the scar itself is more permanent. If you don't like peels, then home microdermabrasion systems, home made facial scrubs, and even some home facials will do the trick! Last edited by SageMother : 09-27-2008 at 09:51 PM. |

Vitamin E is a great option if the scars are newer. Yes, you have to be careful about adding too much oil to the area, though, and causing current acne to be worse.

I did not know about any of these home remedies, either. Thank you for sharing them and I will try them as soon as I get a chance.

Olay makes a great home dermabrasion kit and Roc has a great home glycolic acid kit. Both have clear instructions and are not as harsh as what you might experience with a doctor's office.!
