Default Anyone have trouble with Arm Lift and are 4 - 5 weeks Post OP?

I am new to this forum and wanted to get some input from anyone that might be in my situation. I had a FTT/MR/Brachioplasty done on 5/6/05. I am now almost 5 weeks PO and I have developed an almost burning sensation in the incisions in my arms, I am cut from arm pit to elbow. I am also concerned because about 2 days after surgery I lost sensation in my left arm from the back of my elbow and down through the back of my forearm. The doctor said the nerves may be irritated and feeling should return in a few months. This has me very anxious and I think at this point I am regretting that I had PS done on my arms. I also feel like my arms get very tight when I try to bend them straight and that is when I really notice the burning sensation. Anybody that is having this experience please let me know because right now I feel so depressed and I cry almost everynight over the decision I made. Thanks!!

I am sooo sorry you are having all of the problems you mentioned. Hopefully, time will improve things. I wish I could help you but I had the minimal incision armlift method which is done in the armpit area. Hope things get back to normal for you really soon.

Thank you for your reply. I talked to my PS this morning and he assured me that the burnging sensation I was feeling was normal and all part of the healing process. He also said that feeling may return to my arm or it may not but I have to give it a good year to see what happens. I am keeping the faith and hoping for the best! Keep your fingers crossed for me!

I had my surgery on April 27th. The arms are simply the worst. I had the burning too. I think it gets worse if I eat something salty , like popcorn. All the nerves in the arms make this surgery much more difficult, painwise. I had lower body lift, 5 zones lipo (this is still uncomfortable if I don't wear the compression garment), and brest lift on April 14th, then the armlift on the 27th. The other surgeries are nothing compared to the arms. You are not alone.

Thanks for your reply! I am glad to hear I am not alone! I thought I was losing my mind when the burning came into my arms but the doctor assured me today that it is all a part of the healing process. I am trying to keep the faith and think positive but it is hard to sometimes. Are your arms feeling any better now? I hope things get better as time marches on.

Yes, they are much better. I am almost 6 weeks out now. The left arem was always worse than the right. More swelling, even down to the wrist in the beginning. Now the right arm is nearly pain free and the left is tolerable. I am putting those silicone strips on, and some of the scaring is already turning pale. Also the pain where he lipo'ed is much much less. The arms are by far the worst of my surgeries, but worth it.

That is funny about your left arm because that is the exact arm I am having trouble with. The left is more swollen and that is the arm I have the numbness in. The strange part is the incision on that arm is healing very nicely and the one no my right arm is a bit wider but my right arm feels the best. I will have to look for the silicone strips to put on my incision. Your arm incisions look much more hidden then mine are. Thanks for sharing the pictures you look fabulous!

I'm new to this forum and came across your posting. I'm currently at the point of making three great life changing decision, to have an arm lift and butt & thigh lift. Would you please kindly answer a few questions for me about your arm lift? What made you do the surgery? After how many weeks Post Op were you able to apply the siliconew sheeting? Did you use anything else (i.e. a scar lightening cream) together with the silicone strips? At how many weeks did you notice a change in the scar size & color? How long has it been since you had your arm lift? Do you regret your decision?

Did you check to see if maybe the incision got infected? Swollen areas of the body are very susceptible to infection.

I hope you feel better! I'm sorry for your troubles.
