I think the procedure and its recovery time all depend on the extent of your surgery. It's good to go and meet with a couple of doctors to get their take on it and look at any photos they have of past surgeries.
I had the minimal incision lift (where the incision is in the armpit). For bigger volumes of fat/skin or for a more dramatic improvement, they have to put the scar along the back of your arm, elbow to armpit. For the minimal incision lift it took 2-3 hours (for lipo and skin removal) and I went home that day. I had to wear a compression garment on my arms for about two weeks (and I still wear it sometimes at night or when I work out). I'm about 8 weeks post op and still can't raise my arms over my head, but I am back to lifting weights. I hope that helps. |

I had the procedure done two years ago by Dr. Richards in North Bethesda, MD. My husband and I went from South Carolina for me to have this done. He is a wonderful and personable doctor. Since he is the one who created this procedure, I opted to go to him as I did not want the long scars on my arms. My scars in the armpit area and you can't even see them now. Recovery isn't that bad - just couldn't raise my arms above the shoulders for three weeks. YOu won't be disappointed if you go to him. If you have any questions, I will be glad to answer them. Good luck!

Excuse my ignorance, but what are "bat wings?" I can't recall hearing that term before.

If I am correct, "bat wings" would be the loose skin that hangs on your upper arm. That's a colourful expression, though.
My question is, would you want them done so early? 37 doesn't sound old to me. What are your chances of developing bat wings again, say, into your fifties? |

I'm in my mid-forties, and I am getting "bat wings" also. I will not wear sleeveless shirts because of it. It's terrible, but I can't afford cosmetic surgery.

I've never heard them called bat wings either. It's great that he could hide the scars, but I too am concerned about you having it done so early. What if it happens again?
