Common Reasons For Wanting Breast Augmentation
The number one reason for breast augmentation is of course to make them larger. The usual "make me bigger" is what drives many of us to search the Internet for hours looking at before and after photos, asking around on message boards and chat rooms and seeking support as though we needed approval from strangers. Well, it isn't about approval at all! It is about sharing information and experiences. It is about seeking out those who have been there and done it and are willing to help us through the very same experience.
Many, many patients are mothers. Mothers who have spent the last few (or many) years selflessly caring for their children, their husbands, their dogs, their cats, their homes, their work. Many of these mothers have lost breast tissue due to their pregnancy and/or breast feeding, even aging. Now it is time for these mothers to spend a little time and effort (and money) to take charge again and reclaim their bodies. It happens every day.
Some women never have had significant breast tissue and decide that enough is enough and go for it! Some have had mastectomies, some have a significant chance of breast cancer in their family history and have their breast tissue removed and replaced with implants. Some patients wish to either launch or improve their careers with their bust size. Some patients have extreme asymmetry, some have congenital deformities, some want rounder breasts. Some patients you'll never even know they had it done - some it is very obvious.
The point of this section isn't to finger any specific REASON to have breast tissue with the exception of ONE RULE: If you decide to have breast augmentation please make sure you are doing it for YOURSELF. Other than that, it can be for any personal reason you wish it to be. Breast augmentation is a personal decision and the personal factors that are behind it are your own. The important matter is like I said, to be sure it is not being done for your spouse or boy friend or significant other, it must be for YOU. There are inherent risks and possible complications, and there is maintenance that you and only you will have to take responsibility for. It is not a one time, good for life type of operation. Just know that, take care in choosing a qualified surgeon and read up on the subject as much as possible so that you are making an informed decision.
We share that one goal, to improve our breasts through cosmetic surgery and that is what this website is for. To help inform and bring together patients with like-minded surgical interests.
