1. What if I get sick and can't keep my medicine down?

The capsule shells generally dissolve pretty fast releasing your medications into your system. The tablets may be more difficult to dissolve but prescription pain relievers (which you take every 3 to 4 hours) are usually not coated unless they are super-time release (Oxycontin).

Taking your medication with some food and water may help you keep it down. If you simply cannot keep your medications down and vomit as soon as you take them, alert your surgeon and he or she may change your prescription or put you on a Pain Pump.

2. I am a very active person, how long should I wait until I resume exercising?

It is usually advised to wait at least 2 weeks for exercising, 3 weeks is better. Although you may feel good, you are not healed completely and will not be fully healed for sometime. Take care with lifting heavy objects after this period although you should not lift these objects, bend over or participate in vigorous activities for at least three weeks. As always, abide by your doctor's instructions.

3. How long before my implants drop (or fluff)?

This depends upon several factors: size implant, what size you were pre-operatively, implant surface type, implant placement, use of massage, muscle tone, etc. Everyone will drop at different rates. For instance, smooth implants drop faster than textured. If you go under the muscle you will drop slower than overs. If you go from a saggy C to a D/DD and chose a smooth implant in the sub-glandular position, you will probably drop faster than a woman going from an A to a C/D who has textured unders. Just as well in any placement, if you had very small breasts before, and get moderate to large implants for your frame, yours will take longer to drop because of the tightness of the skin.

Some surgeons have you push your implants down or massage them soon after your surgery. If you are having problems, some surgeons have you wear The Strap, which is an elastic band, or strap, worn above the breasts to help push them down.

Expect to begin dropping within the first few weeks in normal cases. If you aren't dropped within 6 to 9 months you may have a stubborn case and may need re-dissection. This is definitely a question for your surgeon.

4. Why are my breasts red and feel like they are sunburned?

Your skin has been stretched and you will have all kinds of sensations, the sunburned feeling and red color is from the stretching of your skin. You are healing, give it time. Ask your surgeon if you can apply Shea Nut butter on your breasts (NOT on your incisions) and only if you are not allergic to nuts or nut oils.

5. Why are my breasts shiny? When will it go away?

The skin of your breasts may appear shiny due to swelling. Within a few weeks, the swelling will disappear and disintegerated...

This too is from your skin being stretched. As your skin begins to relax, the shininess will go away. Remember, you are healing so give it some time. Ask your surgeon if you can apply Shea Nut butter on your breasts (NOT on your incisions) and only if you are not allergic to nuts or nut oils.
