I had my br on 12-12-05 1 week from today! I am feeling great!! I am kinda scared to drive though with all the arm movements I don't know when to start driving. My ps just told me to do whatever whenever I feel ready. I do feel ready to do a lot of things like get out of the house but I can just imagine tearing the stiches or something. When did you guys start driving? Did you rip anything? I really want to get out of the house help!! thanks,

I was 11 days POSTOP when i started and I did in fact cause a lot of swelling on my left side-- but I was driving in some awful conditions like snow and slush.

I started driving 2 days post op...no probs with the actual driving (although you can't do 'hand over hand'...kind of have to do the 'old lady shuffle')....but the problem I had was with the shoulder harness! I'd advise using the seatbelt, but putting the harness behind your back. (It was summertime, and I had a thin shirt on and a sports bra, and I moved to turn around and split my vertical incision open on one side(where the harness hit, as it 'pulled' across my chest).)

I know you want to get out, but I would recommend that you avoid driving as long as you can make yourself. You don't want to cause any needless swelling or cause irritation to the stitches.
