Default post op recovery

I am scheduled for BR the middle of March. I am quite concerned about losing my summer due to healing and down time. I love to golf and we have cold winters here so I want to resume outdoor activities as soon as possible. My surgery would ideally be done the first of January but we have a scheduled two month trip for January and February so I have to wait until we return from our trip.

I am 48 years old, 5.5, 135 lbs. My bust size is presently a 34DDDD but most people would never know as I wear clothing that masks them pretty well. I have a long history of shoulder problems and never put the two together. However the deep grooves on my shoulders got my attention. I was not always this size. It seems like every five years, my bra size increases another cup size. I was hoping to lose weight and get down to 125 but I just have not been able to do it. The older I get, the tougher it is to keep my weight at that level. I am a size 4 for jeans and other clothes and size 10-12 for blouses. If the top is fitted at all, I have to wear a large and I am very self conscious of the buttons pulling apart. I also feel that my breasts make me look fatter than I really am. Gravity is not as much of an issue for me. I guess I was blessed in that way, but size is an issue.

I had open gallbladder surgery three years ago and it was awful. Six hours of surgery left me feeling bad for six months. I was very depressed and it just lingered forever. My liver enzymes shot up and I almost had to have a liver biopsy. I developed stomach problems as a result of bile and am very afraid of surgery with surprises.

For those who are active with sports such as tennis and golf, how long before you were able to resume these activities post surgery? I would appreciate your comments.

I think you can expect to be away from sports for a few months, but it depends on your exact surgery. You can ask your surgeon how long it will take to recover. Have you gone in for a consultation yet?
