For those who don't mind sharing, I'm curious to know how much pain medication your PS wrote your PS for.
Mine gave me 30 tablets of Percocet with directions to take 1 to 2 tablets every 4 to 6 hours as needed for pain with no refills. I used quite a few of these in the first two days. After, I have used them only when absolutely necessary and sometimes cutting them in half because I have so few left. I haven't asked my PS for additional prescription pain medication, but at my 2 day post-op appt. he said that pain medication was likely causing my naseau and to switch to Motrin as most of his patients no longer need narcotic pain medication beyond the 2 day post-op mark, anyway. (I explained that I had stopped taking pain med. to see if that was the problem and it hadn't helped the naseau. He relented and wrote a prescription for Phenegran (sp). ) As suggested I have taken 600 to 800 mg Motrin and usually am OK, but there are times when I do have a lot of pain. I have 4 tablets left. I was in so much pain this morning that I just cried my way through it. I want to save those 4 tablets in case I have time that I can't get through the pain regardless. I'm debating if I should call and ask for may pain medication. But, being that my BR was one week ago yesterday, I'm sure he will think that Motrin is all I need. I'm not a drug seeker, but am afraid that is what he will think. Maybe I just need to toughen up and get through a couple of bad spells and it won't seem so bad then. So, after that long message, did your PS prescribe more than 30 tablets of pain medication? |

I am sorry to hear that you are in so much pain.
You might want to go in and see your PS and have a check up. You might have an infection that is causing you so much pain. As far as the pain I was in, the 7th day after my surgery was the worst. (I did have a bit of infection and was then treated) Good luck. Let us know how you are doing. |

that makes me feel better. I don't have a high pain tolerance as it is.
I just called the PS and within 10 minutes of leaving my voice mail the nurse called me back and asked if I had any allergies and what pharmacy to call it into. She didn't give me a hard time about it at all. I did take my temp. a little while ago and it is slightly elevated -- 100 (so, not technically a fever). I was curious if pain made your body temp go up like blood pressure does. Hadn't thought about an infection. Just assumed I was past that risk. Something I'll watch for. thx |

I'm sorry you are in so much pain, but at least you have the medication to help you deal with it.
