Default PLEASE HELP ASAP!!! "Regular" silicone implants vs cohesive gel

I really need help right now. I am a 44-yr-old male from Pittsburgh, PA and I am looking to get buttocks implants. It took me several months to find a doctor in an area near a family member's residence I could recover at. I finally found a PS in MD who is very reputable. I have already met with him and discussed the procedure and have scheduled the surgey for Sept. 27 this month. I am scheduled to get the regular silicone implants. However, since I have scheduled the surgery, I started reading all the comments from people on the message boards about how uncomfortable the "regular" implants are, that many have had them removed and replaced with the "cohesive gel" implants. I spoke to my PS about the cohesive gel implants and he told me they are not legal for buttocks implants in this country. Now I don't know what to do!!
Has anybody who has had the regular implants (under the muscle of course) been satisfied? What should I do? And if I have to go out of the country, who do I see? How much will it cost total? I am confused and need your input. Please help!!!

Hi & welcome! Let me start by telling you that I have NOT had implants! However, here are a few suggestions & recommendations. First start by reading through all the old threats. You will find that with the exception of a "TaraD," who most members do not like and do not trust, no one has been happy/pleased/satisfied with solids. Your ps is correct, you will have to go out of the country for cohesive gel. Based on the MANY posts that I have read (both here ad other message boards) one of the most popular docs is Dr. Rosas in Tijuana, Baja, Mexico. About the cost, while it will vary and be SUBSTANTIALLY lower than in the states, women appear to be paying $2,500-$3,500 for the procedure.

Based on the pics that I have seen (only women) I think a man would look great with implants. Even under the muscle the implants give a defenition different than a womans rounder, softer butt. In my personal opinion the butt looks somewhat muscular and therefore believe a man's butt would look good.

Hope this helps! Good luck with your surgery, what ever you decide.

Thanks for replying. I have been reading through the postings as I said in my original statement. However, what I dont know is how to go about the process of seeing Dr. Rosas. Where would I stay? How much would that cost? When would I be allowed to fly back home? Would I be able to fly back to Pittsburgh since I would be sitting down? How do I pay for it(Do I have to get Mexican money?), and all the other finer details.

Welcome.
I scheduled butt implant surgery with Dr. Rosas though I wasn't able to keep the appointment.
This is what I do know:
1)..." how to go about the process of seeing Dr. Rosas."
You can contact him by calling him directly or E-mailing. I suggest calling only because the comnputer system in Mexico doesn't seem to be as reliable. Also, Dr. Rosas speaks excellent English.
Here is Dr. Rosas'information:
Dr. Manuel Rosas
(714) 381-4431
E-mail: rosasplasticsurgery@yahoo.com

2)"Where would I stay"?
Most surgeons (as does he)have special arrangements with certain hotels in the area. They also usually have hostel and/or private homes that they are also affiliated with that can provide you with personal looking after. Meals, bandage changing, getting meds, etc. You can discusss this with Dr. Rosas or his receptionist when you make your appointment. They are very accomodating.

3)"How much would that cost"?
Cost of butt implants is I believe $4,300.00 and includes EVERYTHING. Anesthesia, operating room, drains, the implants, recovery in operating facility overnight, et all. You pay ONLY when you go in for actual surgery. In terms of lab work, I suggest you get your medical tests done (again ask Dr. Rosas which ones you will need) BEFORE you go down there. You want to make sure that your are "medically" cleared. Don't waste the trip and get down there to have your lab work done only to discover that you are amenic or are otherwise unable to have your surgery. Three months prior to your surgery is a good enough ball park and I'm sure acceptable by most doctors.

4)"When would I be allowed to fly back home"?
I'm again guessing here. I think one week to ten days should be sufficient. The PS will tell you.

5)"Would I be able to fly back to Pittsburgh since I would be sitting down?"
Of course.

6)"How do I pay for it(Do I have to get Mexican money?"
The preferred method of payment is CASH, Darlin'.
I think they may accept some credit cards, Im not sure which but from what I've been told, CASH is KING! Again, ask the doctor.

7)"...and all the other finer details."
The most importatnt detail I can give you is to go with a definite idea of exactly HOW BIG do you want this new behind to be?
I did a lot of research because most of these implants for butts or breasts come in "cc"'s. What that means to the average person is...duh.. NOTHING!
I was thinking that they would be along the lines of say quarts...gallons,liters, etc. Wrong! It took me forever to discover that these mysterious "cc"'s are really quite small. If you go to the "betterbuttocks.com website", and pick back through the pictures in the "buttock" section you will see what "cc''s look like.
Some of those men/women have as much as 450-500 cc's in each buttock. Sounds ENORMOUS but on an average body.... it AIN'T.
Sorry this is so long. Hope this starts you in the right direction.

Good luck ,
Sulu

P.S. Just remembered one other thing. Dr. Rosas considers any cohesive gel butt implant OVER "400 cc's" (I think) to be custome made and DOES charge MORE for those. I believe at least $500.00 more.In that case, he does require a deposit.

Why are the cohesive gel implants illegal in the United States?
