I am not familiar with gastric bypass. I haven't heard of somebody undergoing in this kind of surgery. Maybe it is not that common because it is not known.

I know 3 people who have had this surgery. The results are dramatic but I have no clue what will happen with all that extra skin. They lose weight, and a couple of dress sizes, but having all that extra skin will still leave them looking pretty large.

I know 2 people that had it. My sister is one of them. After she lost the weight, she went for plastic surgery to take out the excess skin, so it was tummy tuck as well as arms, legs, and breasts. it was a total of 700 stitches all around her body!

My grandmother had the procedure done, and she got very sick from the surgery unfortunately. I have some distant family who had this done as well, maybe two or three others?

I too, knew a person who had this surgery and she did lose an entire body, but she was also stuck with the extra skin from losing so much weight and she didn't have any money to remove the skin. And although it was obvious she had lost a lot of weight she still looked heavier than she was because of all the skin she had tuck away. I think when this type of surgery is done, the skin should be included in the cost.

I agree. The procedure is incomplete as far as I am concerned. Prhaps the skin isn't included so that more people will hae the surgery. The cost is much lower and th epotential patient is probably encouraged to focus on the weight loss only. The extra skin is left as a nasty little surprise that requires a whole new set of charges!

I have to agree. People should think of the whole procedure, and include the cost of the post weight lost period. Because not even with exercise you can get your skin to the way it was.

There´s another thing that comes with it: People that were fat, all of a sudden become thin and they realize that there was this skkinny bitch inside of themdying to come out. I´ve seen the change in personalities and some are really nasty!

It seems to be extremely common as I see people trying this before considering other alternatives before going forward with the surgery.
