Yeah, I was also wondering who all need hormone replacement. I have irregular periods very often & am quite moody before my periods. But I'm only in my 20's. Do I need it?

Most women, I think, need hormone replacement when menopause hits. I've heard though that there are a lot of natural ways to achieve this and when the time comes, I'm going to try this method b4 anything else.

I think rather than hormone replacement for irregular periods it is better to opt to go and visit your gynecologist and try other options. I have my friend who was able to get her periods regularised.

Did you know that the source of the estrogen in hormone replacement usually has a natural source? It is the estrogen isolated from mare urine. It sounds unappetizing, but then people eat dead chickens and cows and never bat an eye! LOL Last edited by SageMother : 01-08-2008 at 04:53 AM. |

I have considered this once since all the effects seem good, but for some reason, just seem so unnatural to me. Aren't we all born to have a certain amount of hormones? I guess there's always a skeptic

We were all born to feel extreme pain with headaches but we get relief. We were probably not meant to outlive our hormone supply, but now that we do, I think relief is a good idea!

Sometimes is not as good as one might think. My mom was actually on hormone suppessants becasue she had breast cancer, and to avoid getting more cancer they gave her hormone supressants. So, perhaps too many hormones are not good either.

I think that usually the hormones that are used for irregular periods are birth control pills, so they can serve a double purpose. Being moody before your period can be addressed by a range of over the counter (OTC)medications or treated by different herbs.
