swelling !!!!!

m on my fourth day and today is my worst day as far as swelling. Is this normal?

Yes, And it will be worse if you do not drink at least 6-10 bottles of water min each day, avoiding all salts, sodas and diet drinks. . Keeping the garment on 24/7 will help too.

Ohh I feel your pain! Just had my BA & lipo on 11/23/05. So today is day 11 post op for me.

I too, was so swollen by day 5 & constipated that I thought I would bust out of my garment. Auuughh, just a miserable feeling & being constipated on top of it?! My relief for the latter came as I had my boyfriend get me high fiber colon cleanse powder from the health food store (as NOTHING else was getting things moving.) Needless to say about 3 hours later RELIEF for that issue.

As far as the swelling is concerned, the best advice I got was to eat plenty of fresh pineapple (in it's own juice), take the Bromelain, & drink LOTS as in nearly a gallon of water with fresh lemon juice each day. 2 days later I could actually button my pre-op pants again.

I know it's seems like you'll never feel normal again, but each passing day gets a little easier.

Thank you so much for the advice, It's good to know that Im not the only one like this. the constipation is over, but the swelling......... it's driving me crazy.

I had 4 liters taken out supposedly. I agree about the rest, past few days I went out and about a bit too much. so the second week will be better? How much did u take out?

I had a bit over 2 liters taken out. The 2nd week WILL be better, each passing day will get better.

I ended up taking off a total of 8 days from work. I had only planned on 3 days and a weekend as being enough time to recover. But I had no idea my swelling would be such an ordeal. I was so shocked by all the swelling that I couldn't mentally bare to go back to work & face anyone. Uggh...patience, diet & keeping that garment on are the keys.

Yes, the soreness will go up after the surgery. You can help it by drinking a lot of water. Did you surgeon give you any pain medications?
