"In the UK, breast enlargement implant surgery costs between £3,400 and £5,000 depending on where the operation takes place. Manufacturers say that breast implants should last ten or more years."

10 or more years? i thought it was for life, does that mean they have to take them back out after a while???

Pectoral implants
Pumping iron at the gym will help to improve the shape and appearance of your chest but it may not always be enough. Lifestyle, ageing and frequent changes in weight can make your chest muscles weaken and begin to sag. By placing implants under the muscles, the projection and bulk of the pectorals can be increased. However, implants will not improve the definition of the muscles. So while your pectoral muscles will look bigger and more pronounced, they will not have a defined muscular shape.

The procedure can be carried out as day-case surgery under a general anaesthetic and you will be allowed to go home following recovery from the anaesthetic. In some cases you may be required to stay overnight.

The surgeon will place a small cut along the armpit crease and the implants will be placed directly underneath the chest muscle. Any scarring will be hidden under the armpit but your consultant surgeon will discuss this before the operation.

To aid recovery, you should follow the surgeon's advice on how long it will take for you to return to normal activities. The chest may be sore for a number of days and you should be prepared to take one to two weeks off work to recover from the operation. You should not do exercises for up to six weeks while your chest gets used to the implants.

One of my friends had them replaced twice already! The breast implants need to be replaced because otherwise with time they might lea into the body.

Replaced twice? Wow! That really is sacrificing for good looks! I've wondered what the implants are made of; must be silicone if it leaches?
