I found a stretch mark removal cream in the nearest pharmacy store. Is it OK to use the cream when I am in my 8th month or should I use it after the delivery?? Kindly suggest some good tips or creams or medications that can help to get rid of these marks.

I always wonder if those Vitamin K & P creams would work...I also heard horse chestnut works.
I used to have some red marks near my inner knee area, and they suddenly disappeared. I think it's due to a sudden weight gain then a loss, but I really have no other explanation for it. Maybe my starting to drink more water and using shea butter helped too... |

I´d say check with your doctor if the cream is safe to use while pregnant. I know there are creams you can start using while you are on your 4th month and continue after giving birth. Check it out. I know only 2 women without any stretch maks from pregnancy, and I know creams were used early on!

I would confirm it with my doctor. Using it at such an early stage as 4th month would really solve the problem completely. I am scared of the marks it might leave, hope they vanish. I am having minimum 8 glasses of water though.

Come to think of it, I've heard cocoa butter is a good way to lessen the marks and I have also heard of something called Belly Balm, I think a lot of husbands come in and ask for that for their wives. I hear it's good but I don't know personally.

Stretch mark creams can fade the marks but its tearing of connective tissue that creates them. Since the elasticity of your skin is set by heredity, creams will not prevent the tearing and external applications won't get rid of the damaged skin.
Check with the doctor before using anything that might penetrate the skin and have contact with the blood stream, especially if you are pregnant. Last edited by SageMother : 01-02-2008 at 03:08 PM. |

I would check with a doctor before using anything, but I have heard great things about cocoa butter. My mother put cocoa butter on her marks after her pregnancy, and the appearance of the marks were gone.

Cocoa butter might not be harmful even if applied during my pregnancy too I guess. I would surely find out with my doctor in the next appointment.

Good luck! I know it can be done...I wish I had a before and after photograph of the area on my knee that had distinct marks that disappeared, I don't even have white marks left there, which surprises me because I usually get stuck with problem skin. I really think it was dramatic weight loss (which in your case will happen after pregnancy of course but many of the marks will stay if you don't take care of them before it's too late) but probably also just keeping fit, drinking water, and that lovely shea and cocoa butter. I hope your doctor gives the okay on it, I really have not heard that they are unsafe!
